Egypt has been playing a very important role in this region, and your progress towards fuller democracy, fuller participatory democracy, will have a significant impact on countries across the region and even beyond this region. That you should know, that while you are building your democracy and prosperous society, that you should also keep in mind that what you are doing will have a very important meaning to other parts of the world.

The protests in Egypt have prompted renewed questions about the U.S.'s aid to the country. The people, following the example of Tunisia, decided that they are sick of their dictator, president Mubarack. Mubarack has ruled for 30 years as a dictator, and now the people of Egypt are protesting that they want a fair government, and want a new president for their country to be more organized and better for people in Egypt.

Egypt will use the Helicopters in support of its armed forces, disaster relief efforts, and joint exercises with U.S. forces in all the region. Egypt will have no difficulty using these helicopters into its armed forces. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in all the region.

UNHCR(United Nations High Commissioner for Regugees) increased the number of telephone hotlines at the end of January amid growing concern about the refugees in Cairo and elsewhere. There are some 40,000 refugees registered with UNHCR in Egypt. The majority come from Ethiopia, Eritrea, Iraq, Somalia and Sudan. UNHCR provides help and medical support to refugees in EGYPT !

-Egypt has a consistent history of mistreating political prisoners, often in the name of fighting terrorism. Its targets in the 1990s were members of armed Islamist groups, who were committing acts of domestic terrorism, especially against the country's Coptic Christian population. Many of them belonged to one of two Egyptian groups, al Jihad Al Islami or Al Jama'a Islamiyya (Islamic Group). Americans and Europeans are afraid that the Muslim Brotherhood would play a leading role in a new government, and American and Israeli politicians and media commentators who, for the most part with only some exceptions, are more concerned about the rights of Israelis to live in security than the rights of Egyptians to live in freedom.

Egyptian official sources have denied that the shootings took place, although they have confirmed that two men were arrested by the Egyptian border police, one of whom is said to be seriously injured. International is concerned that Egypt and Israel may be sending law enforcement officials to the area who do not have the necessary training for dealing with crowd-control situations, thus putting the lives of more migrants, refugees and asylum seekers at risk. Excessive use of force by the Egyptian security forces has increased.

*Ancient Egypt encompasses one of the most exciting periods in World History. One of the most important health and environmental problems is air pollution resulting from using fuel, burning operations, and the increase of automobile exhaust in cities. However, the deficiency of efficient sanitation services and water pollution caused by the breaking down of old and consumed water networks, as well as the various problems in construction, designing and maintenance of sewage system resulted in the appearance and prevalence of communicable and non-communicable diseases. Tobbacco is another disease in Egypt.

 Poverty
Living standards in Egypt are low by international standards. Despite widespread poverty, however, uneven development has led to the emergence of an affluent class that controls most of the country's wealth. The wealthy send their children to private schools and to universities abroad. Yet not far from these affluent neighborhoods, a significant number of poor Egyptians live in squalor, with poor and overcrowded housing, limited food supply, and inadequate access to clean water, good quality health care, or education.

Hostorical Events

Egyptian civilization go back more than 6,000 years to the beginning of settled life along the banks of the Nile River. The country has an unusual geographical and cultural unity that has given the Egyptian people a strong sense of identity and a pride in their heritage as descendants of humankind's earliest civilized community.Within the long sweep of Egyptian history, certain events have been crucial to the development of Egyptian society and culture. Power was centralized in the hands of a god-king, and, thus, Egypt became the first organized society.

Greetings are based on both class and the religion of the person. It is best to follow the lead of the Egyptian you are meeting. Handshakes are the customary greeting among individuals of the same sex. Handshakes are somewhat limp and prolonged, although they are always given with a hearty smile and direct eye contact. Once a relationship has developed, it is common to kiss on one cheek and then the other while shaking hands, men with men and women with women. In any greeting between men and women, the woman must extend her hand first. If she does not, a man should bow his head in greeting.

Egypt was one of the first, if not the first, civilization to develop a system of writing. Comprised of thousands of symbols, the Egyptians Hieroglyphics are a study in art as well as linguistics.

 Pyramids
We know that the pyramids had their practical importance in the eyes of the kings and their subjects. The king was considered a divine being who held sway over them, and on his departure from this earth he would again ascend to the gods when he had come. The pyramids soaring up to the sky would probably help him to make his ascent. In any case they would preserve his sacred body from decay. For the Egyptians believed that the body must be preserved if the soul is to live on in the beyond.

-Yıllardır mısır piramitleri hakkında herkes atıp tuttu

The people of ancient Egypt highly valued family life. They treasured children and regarded them as a great blessing. In the lower class families, the mother raised the children. The wealthy and nobility, had slaves and servants that helped take care of the children by attending to their daily needs. If a couple had no children, they would pray to the gods and goddesses for help. They would also place letters at the tombs of dead relatives asking them to use their influence with the gods. Magic was also used as an attempt to have children. In event that a couple still could not conceive a child, adoption was also an option.

Religion of Egypt

One of the more famous aspects of the Egyptian religious beliefs was their ideas of the afterlife. They believed the physical body had to be preserved to allow a place for their spirit to dwell in the afterlife. Because of this, mummification was performed to preserve the body. In addition, large pyramids were constructed as tombs for the pharaohs in the Old Kingdom. Later, rock cut tombs were used to bury the pharaohs.

Egyptians believed that the body was the link to a spiritual existence in the afterlife. The body was mummified so the spirit could get needed food and drink in the afterlife. In case the body was destroyed or damaged, magical spells were placed on a statue of the deceased so the spirit could continue to have their needs met.

Ancient Egyptians had schools but these were exclusively for males who were in training to be scribes and officials for the priesthood or civil administration. The royal family had their own special tutors and the ordinary people were educated at home. A son would receive training in the professional secrets of his father's trade or craft. The subjects taught at school were chiefly reading, writing and arithmetic. These were essential not only for priests and artists but also for government officials who dealt with the complicated tax system. Good handwriting was also considered essential.

The global financial crisis slowed the reform efforts. The budget deficit climbed to over 8% and Egypt's growth slowed to 4.6% in 2009, predominately due to reduced growth in export-oriented sectors, including manufacturing and tourism. In 2010, the government spent more on infrastructure and public projects, and Despite the relatively high levels of economic growth over the past few years, living conditions for the average Egyptian remain poor.

Right's Movement: Suffrages and Voting Rights
In Ancient Egypt, women seemed to have enjoyed same legal and economical rights which men had, at least in theory.Although ancient Egypt was hardly an egalitarian society where equal rights are accorded to all irrespective of class, gender or status, age, etc. Women still were allowed to inherit or own property, sign contracts, marry and divorce according to their will, appear in court as a witness. But somehow the condition of women across continents waned down the road, and embroiled a deep seated rage for breaking free among women. Women struggle for the right to vote.
